Kicking off our updates for the 2021 Season, we are extremely excited to welcome back two incredibly creative minds to the Genesis design team.

Mike Huestis has been associated with the Genesis program for many years but most notably he was the Percussion Designer and Consultant for the 2013 team that brought mOZaic to the stage and a bronze medal to the Genesis program. A highly sought after composer and arranger, Mr. Huestis has served as the percussion arranger for Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps from Diamond Bar, CA and Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps in Austin, TX. His compositions are published by JKS Music, Rowloff, Key Poulan Publications and Huestis Music Publications. Michael is the author of the classroom method, “Developing the Percussionist-Musician” which was developed for middle school and high school students. full bio here

Mr. McCarthy is now in his eighth year as Colorguard Director at McNeil HS. He is also the Co-Director of Austin’s Open Class independent organization, Origins Colorguard, and recently served as an instructor for The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, based in San Antonio.
